While I voted for Diane Denish in this thread poll, and indeed yesterday, I am willing to give Susana Martinez a try. I'm most happy to see New Mexico elect its first woman as governor, and to see our state continue to lead the nation in Hispanic firsts, as she will also be the first Hispanic woman to lead a state in our country.

Although I wanted Diane Denish to win I can't say I had much enthusiasm for her. I imagine if it was like that for me, a very liberal Democrat, it was even moreso for the state's more conservative Democrats and that's why they voted for Susana Martinez.

I respect the results of the election and I hope Susana Martinez will do well, for our state's sake. I most hope she leaves the Railrunner alone and that she will continue our state's commitment to, and investment in, the film industry continuing to grow here.

A disgrace. The winners are the corrupt corporate interests from Texas who essentially bought this election by pumping in unprecedented funds. La Tejana is just a footnote.

Gov.-elect "Martinet" will be watched very closely. She'll be coming to Santa Fe with lots of enemies in waiting and very few allies. The legislature is not interested in working with her and vice versa. It's lonely being a Republican in Santa Fe. Even lonelier being a female Republican. Even lonelier being a Tejana Republican in Santa Fe.

After taking two steps back, Republicans have now taken one step forward. It could be worse.

For those who are happy their mascot won this time: enjoy the gridlock!

Sour grapes yet again. What is this obsession you have with Texas? Since you seem to believe that contributors control, then you must believe Denish would have been a martinet of AFSCME and SEIU, and not New Mexicans.

As for gridlock, if it's similar to when Gary Johnson was Gov then I say good. It will stop the legislature from spending more money we don't have.

To those of you who are willing to give our new governor a chance, thank you.

I have known Susana for a year now, and she is a good person, with good credentials ... and given a chance, I believe in my heart she will be a good governor, or I would never have supported her so strongly.

Thank you again for at least being willing to give her the chance she deserves as our new governor.

Viva Susana.
