Rath De ort!
That's about the extent of my Gaelic...but writing to say count me in on your Irish group plan...I'm new to Alb. & am looking for like minded people....A lover of all things Celtic/ Irish/ Scottish/ Breton, etc...Have travelled extensively in the West Country, lived in England with my (now deceased) traditional musician (mandolin player)/Mathematician husband, spent a fair amount of time in the back room of many a pub. Do you know the Fury Brothers? They were great friends of ours back in the day...I am a musician myself - a classical singer, have sung with Irish National Opera & elsewhere....Let me know how I can help get your idea off the ground...Blythe

Yeah i know the Fury's! I did security for Patsy Watchorn (The Dublin City Ramblers now The Dubliners) for over a year when he was playing in "The Lower Deck" in Dublin with the Furrier etc.

Where's my pint?
Great culture, great music. In the face of everything cowboy, which is fine, it's good to have something otherly than the status quo culture to mix things up... though I do want to go to a rodeo soon, and have a weekend horse ride in the canyon.

I am moving to NM September 1st from Boston, and already have two brothers and a sister out there. We are Irish heritage (and are involved with shipping and training Irish draught horses from Ireland to NM). We would love to get togethers with others of our own kind! Please let us know how you make out.

I know a tad bit from School, there is an Irish Group (Gael Tabac) which I am a member of. Theyre pushing the Irish language in Ireland. They are going to hook me up with CD's n stuff to learn again, I will be teaching my boys when I think they are old enough too.

Chuckling here:
Ireland today is exquisite from what I have read/heard
And; I get mistaken for a stereotypical Irishman all the time despite being mostly Hungarian (father) and part English with probable Native American, etc. on my mother's side According to family legend: my maternal grandfather was a Callahan, unknown whether he was Celtic Irish or Scots-Irish.

That is so cool, Brian. I'm hoping to relocate to New Mexico in the next year or two, and Albuquerque is on the list. I have an Irish surname -- although my dad was Irish and Norwegian -- but that didn't prevent him from having some "green" beers on St. Patty's Day! (Or any other day, for that matter! )
When I was in the pharmacy last year, some woman actually came up to me (because I'm reddish/blonde haired) and said, "You have the map of Ireland on your face." (not sure what she meant by that....I don't have some Ireland map birthmark.... )
Let us know if something comes up! Thanks!
Wisteria
