Irish in New Mexico
As may know im from Dublin, now living in NM. Im looking to see if there are many Irish people in NM. Im considering (if there is interest) setting up and IrishNM club or group / society or whatever.
I think it would be cool for people who have moved to NM from Ireland or people who are of Irish descent to mix and share stories / experiences. Im a web designer and plan on building a site for it. I think it would be cool for annual gatherings around the state too, i know of a couple of performers from Kerry that live in Santa Fe. What do you think ?

Hey Brian,
I'm of Irish descent and will be moving to NM soon. I think you have a cool idea.

I sure hope so! I was hoping for a good response to this. Ive always wanted to do something 'Irish' like that since I left.

I think you should do it and see what happens. There is a bit of Celtic dancing here in Albuquerque and a Celtic Festival in Rio Rancho -- I haven't been.
I don't know how many actual Irish immigrants there are but probably a good number of us with Irish heritage -- you find it all over America. :-)

I am not Irish, but I think it is a wonderful idea.
Good luck with it, Brian!

I have heard of an Irish group/club in Rio Rancho. Do not have any info on it or anything.
Good luck with your project.

There was a Irish / SCot bar in Albuquerque that closed down. But I think I will pursue the project.

I'm in - I hope!
I'm also from Dublin, and have plans to move to the Abq region in the 2nd quarter, 2008. My husband is from Ohio, but is also a dual-citizen (it's our backup health care plan...only half kidding...). We're living in LA right now.
We will be visiting Abq Oct 14-21 to do some research, so maybe you'll have something going by then!?!!
I know of a friend of a friend that I hope to meet while I'm out there - another Irish woman from Corrales (she is involved with the Irish Draught Horses Assoc. there - see http://www.irishdraughthorse.com/Albuquerque.html).

Irish in New Mexico
I'm hoping to move from New York to NM in the next year. One of the things that concerns me is that I live in the heart of Irish NY, and moving to NM may leave me culturally deprived. I think your idea is great, and hope it works out. I wasn't born in Ireland, but my parents were.
