It's a nice (flat) country drive so if it's important to you, why not? Especially if you can tie it in with other relatively nearby destinations. Long way between gas stations, though,
so top off when you have the chance.
Good advice.
We do a lot of traveling throughout the country and we have a general policy that we fill the tank every morning. Since we have travelled to every county in Nevada and Utah, we carry a case of water and a box of granola bars in case we get stranded. And an ice scraper if there is any elevation.
Her pie must have really been BAD if supermarket chain pies are better!
New Mexico magazine has had articles (Leslie King most recently, I think..?) on Pie Town, and they had always talked about how good the pies have always been.
When I was there (Pie Town) it was probably about 9 years ago, so I can't say how the pies are now. I just remember my pie hole was very disappointed. And I'm not even that picky about pies. But when you think about it, why would you expect this place out in the middle of nowhere to have stellar pies? What they serve are the best pies available within 50 miles... and the ONLY pies. Lack of competition makes for a poor product.
According to New Mexico Magazine, everything in New Mexico is THE BEST THING EVER!!!!!!!
Nice photos, but other than that...
