Few do... probably the only reason I knew that it was actually a named spot is because
it was specifically pointed out by a tour leader on a trip to the Alamogordo Space Museum.

Thank all of you for your concern. The docs and I figure I have second stage Lyme disese and have loaded me up with enough anti biotics to kill bugs 10 feet away.

My wife just told me she would like to see NW New Mexico on our next trip. Great idea AFIC so long as we take a few days to study Socorro real estate in some detail. Do you know of any car rental companies that rent cars that would survive dirt roads?

Folks,

I would like to thank you for your help on my question.

Pie Town was a major disappointment. The two or three restaurants were all closed. The terrain was interesting though and it was an interesting drive.

We skipped the ice caves and spent the time at the Alcoma Pueblo. I would like to say that Alcoma Pueblo is interesting but pretty overpriced $20 for a 90 minute tour of which half the time is used to sell crafts.

We spent time at El Malpais and that was a great hike to see all of the petroglyphs.

We ended up also in Gallup. The museum in the train station was well worth the time. Also. the various pawn shops in town were very interesting, especially Richardson's.

I am bumping up a thread because Pie Town, NM was featured on CBS Sunday Morning This Morning.

I really enjoyed watching the video! Last time my husband and I drove that route (March 2014) both restaurants were closed. We were disappointed that we were unable to eat pie. Watching the video makes me want to go back, or start making my own pies!

Good video. It's three hours from us. Have been planning a trip through that area again...

Here is the schedule for the hours open for anyone considering visiting.

The Pie-O-Neer Hours and Contact Information

I'm sure I drove through this town if it is on US 60.

Poncho_NM I hope it is okay to post a link to hours, if not I'm sorry for posting.

It is OK.

Do you have more than 10 posts? Yep.

Are you peddling porn, property, other business ventures? Nope, then that's OK...

You are providing a URL for a place that is under discussion in this thread. That's OK.

So, thanks for your post!

Last time I went I hauled my daughter down from ABQ. This time I headed back though via Pie Town Rd to 117. It gave me a chance to get her up on the sandstone bluffs near sunset. Something she had not seen in the ten plus years she has been in NM.

Thanks for posting that clip of CBS. We saw the story and enjoyed it. Never been on US 60 west of Magdalena but have caught it at Springerville. I would like to go through there sometime.
