Towanda - you have read my postings in the Politics forum. I consider myself a Liberal with Conservative leanings or a Constitutionalist with Liberal social leanings. So - yes, Liberals can be diverse - I manage it within myself.

BTW - We are planning to get a place in central New Mexico fairly soon. Just a matter of money and opportunity.

Not that familiar with Albuquerque (is that a neat name for a city or what?) but for someone that wants the social connections that only a city can provide I think it would be near the top of the list. We are looking for a smaller town preferably with a college. A Wal-Mart is not necessary but a good hardware store is.

LasCruces is on a distinguished road
Mesilla NM, outside of Las Cruces is a culture/spiritual very diverse orientated town. The cost of living is low compared to Santa Fe and about 20% lower than Abq I believe. You will have NMSU close by, the beautiful Organ mountains with some wonderful hiking and mountain biking, Juarez Mexico is close in case you want to venture over the border, and the local food is to live for! Mesilla is a quite town with lots of small stores and old places of worship, the local dining is exquisite. It is nestled in a valley so not really desert area, with several large pecan farms nearby. However, if it is desert you are looking for, it is not to far away and easy to get to. Let me know if you want anymore information lost in america. I am a realtor down here and I love telling people about southwest NM and sending them information about it.
