I don't frequent bars and nite clubs anymore so i can't give you the names but there are nite ckubs in Alamo. There's probably more than the average 40,000 pop city do to the Airforce base there but just be careful and don't drink and drive as the DWI laws are very tough in this state. First offence and the state takes your auto plus fines etc...There's also clubs/bars up in Ruidoso and cloudcroft near by for the tourist types....

Default "The town too sick to die" (as this native calls it)

Alamogordo is one of the most boring places in the state! It has about as much culture as a container of yogurt. As for entertainment, I think they still sell tee shirts that say "I can't decide whether to commit suicide or go bowling". It was acutally a much more "civilized, fun place in the 50's and 60's. There were three movie theatres and two drive-ins. Now there is one theatre in a broke-down almost empty mall and there are over 80 churches and huge billboards on each end of town that warn:"JESUS IS LORD OVER ALAMOGORDO". I kid you not! So if you're idea of fun is burning some Harry Potter books or protesting a gay bookstore, then Alamogordo is right up your alley. Otherwise, steer-clear! It's a truly un-Christian, hateful place.

Well, I think you might take the prize, blondman!

I think you are the first person I have ever read on this forum that hates Alamogordo.

You seem to be outnumbered by an awfully lot of people who post here.

Blondman, not sure if you are talking about the same place I live. Its boring ONLY IF YOU WANT IT TO BE.. And I have never seen that tee shirt. I can't talk about the 50's and 60's and many towns had more than they do now. Yes there are a lot of churches, but you don't have to go if you don't want to. And there was only one that burnt the Harry Potter books, and many left it because of that. I am sorry you feel about Alamogordo the way you do. And as for un-Christian, I disagree with you on that.

bceaser1, judge the town on your own. I am sure you will see it in a different light than the rest of us. And if you are with the USAF I am sure that there are many that can tell you where you want to be on the week-ends.
Welcome to town.
Jane

Well were all confused as to which it is?? Either its ''Jesus is lord over Alamo'' or ''its a truly un-christian place'' as you stated. Sounds to me your confused about your own statements.

The ''Jesus is Lord'' motto has been there since the 80's as people had them as Bumper Stickers but that didn't keep us from partying at the club scene there in Alamogordo.. i.e.. Desperado, Eagles Nest, Back Door Saloon, Jerry's Lounge (Biker bar), DL's, Furgi's, Shooters etc...We also went to El Paso alot for the club scene.

As for boring.......what do expect for 40,000 people a Six Flags amusement park ?? If its so boring and has the culture of ''a container of Yogurt'' then LEAVE as there's other places to live in and be happy in the USA. We never were bored with all the mountain recreation there as the range is about 100 miles long and 40 miles wide.

As far as ''Hate'' all i've ever met there is really great down to earth people and whenever someone gets in a financial bind you'll usually find an ad in the local paper having a fund raiser to help the person(s) in need to pay rent/utilities/food etc...

So since you can't decide to commit suicide or go bowling well all i can say is good luck in either endeavor you choose.......

This has got to be the STUPIDEST post Ive read. You must be a teen or
VERY immature. Alamo is great! May not have alot of night life but thats
what makes it great IMHO. The original poster may have to go to Las
Cruces for more "excitement".

I wouldn't take blondman too seriously on his negative post. Maybe he had a girlfriend or someone that dumped him and it happened in Alamo so now he hates the town and wants to say bad things about it.

I don't know ... blondman posted on another thread about Santa Fe and he hates it there too.

Sounds like he might be just a teeny little bit too particular.

No place is perfect, but many places are very special regardless.
