Quarai Ruins - Once, thriving Native American trade communities of Tiwa and Tompiro language-speaking Puebloans
inhabited this remote frontier area of central New Mexico. This is an older photo which I took in 2007:
The Blue Ribbon, Estancia, NM - featuring a great facade, beautiful old wooden bar, and an outstanding
jukebox. The oldest building in town, having recently celebrated its 100th birthday, it has been a bar
since prohibition. Before that, some say it housed a brothel.
I took this picture a few years ago. I am told this place is closed or only sells ice cream...

U.S. Route 550 Slide show with pictures of the 23 mile scenic
portion from Bernalillo to the San Ysidro exit taken December
2013 (Yes, I finally got around to doing it):

Its open still, but they lost their liquor license. Rumor was they got busted serving minors along with the place down in Willard. Don't know if there is truth to the rumors, sign now say's "cafe open".
I am from California (L.A) and I am now going to college in New Mexico. At first, I thought I was on a new planet once I got around Alamogordo and White Sands Missile Range. Even Roswell was strange with all the alien stuff. Now I feel as if New Mexico is one of the most beautiful areas in the United States. The scenery, the history, the people.
