Try Chilis - and if it's not on the menu, ask them to fix it for you. They've done that for me - both at the outlet in Alamo and L.C. They used whole green (presumably Hatch) chilies and the burgers were huge.

Many thanks for the tip, Jax....I'll try one there sometime!
The one I had at Alamo Grill wasn't too bad....just not enough green chile. That may be the issue all the way around!
I'm having a green chile omelet with 1/2 cup of hot green chile, onions, co-jack cheese.....and fresh sliced tomatoes from the garden.

Cathy, come up the road to 'Zozo and we'll meet you at the Outpost. Really, these are good, but of course cash only! Surprised you're not happy with anything in Alamo. I guess we have mostly gone to San Anton or Ruidoso so don't know much about the places down south.
Hey, did I hear somewhere that there is going to be a state funded project to find the best CCBs in New Mexico? Basically a tourism funded project for a state tour to bring attention to this unique culinary treat? Or did I just dream that up?

I have heard that the Outpost is great!! If I get up that way, I'll DM y'all and see if you're free for lunch one day!
I do not know what it is about Alamogordo restaurants. I think it is the inconsistency. You can go one day--and get decent food. The next time might not be so great--or even inedible. I had high hopes for Alamo Grill, as it was just wonderful the first time I ate there. It was fair the last time for me, but everybody else said their meals were terrible.
Sadly enough, the best GCC are those made at home.....

Oooh, Towanda.....just rub it in....
I have discontinued looking in both SF and Farmington for the time being, since I cannot move right now.
I will most likely end up there or in southwestern CO eventually.

You got it....I may also pick your brain about the different areas of SF, though that is probably a ways off for now.

We have lived in the east, west and mid southern part of NM for the last 9 yrs, my husband loves green chile cheeseburgers so to the OP he said the green chili cheeseburger at the Pecos Inn in Carlsbad is good, not the best in NM but good and it is not that far from you.
