Default Weather in Tijeras

I'm new to NM and am now living in Corrales. I am considering a move to the Tijeras some time in the future since I like the more alpine tree coverage there. My question is, what is the climate like there? How much cooler is it there compared to Corrales? Do they get the same 9 inches of precip as Corrales?

Default Tijeras

Logand, I lived in Moriarty so I passed through the Tijeras area often. The winters aren't bad. It does get more snow but not that much. I didn't like the road construction through the corridor more then anything else. Seems they were always working on I40 but as far as weather, it isn't bad. If it does get a lot of snow, which is rare, they will close all the area down and nobody is going anywhere anyway but it only happens like maybe once every five years or so and then just for a day or two and the snow melts and all is well. Not an issue. I40 construction out that way, that is an issue. Can't they ever get it finished and fixed at least for a few years?

I-40 construction is done and the drive is really easy. the weather is usually 10 degrees cooler than Albuquerque (the heights) and, while we do get more precipitation, especially more snow, than Albuquerque, it is for the most part not a problem. I have missed maybe two days at work in the twelve years I've lived out here and that was because they closed the freeway. We love it here and would encourage you to give it a try.
