I have visited NM several times and enjoyed every trip. Any ideas for "MUST Do or see" that tourists don't know about? Those places or things only the locals often know of? I would like to take a few mini trips and experience NM while settling in.

Capulin Volcano (just north of Clayton and south of Raton) is a great place to visit. You can hike around the top of it. Just north of Capulin there is a neat town called Folsom with a population of 87 i think it is. They have a beautiful waterfall which is kind of a secret up here.

There are also the dinosaur tracks at Clayton lake State Park too, 500 of them, quite an impressive sight.

Its a mile walk around and its a real nice, relatively easy walk, the view is beautiful up there too. You could do all three in one day if you rushed, id prefer to do it in Two days. Clayton Lake State Park has a pretty good nature trail too

Here are some links for some neat mini trips.

huntel.com/~artpike/splash2.htm

They also have some fun ghost towns to explore.

vivanewmexico.com/ghosts/index.html

You might have to put www. before these websites to get to them. Some browsers won't take you there without the www.

And yes BrianH, is right, Mt. Capulin is really a great place to visit. The hike up in a volcano is awesome!

I have some pictures of Capulin on (broken link) . I will have some of Folsom Falls pretty soon, just looking to take time from the office to drive up there to get some good ones. Nows a great time to go though, because of the rain everything is green and growing
