Eighteen and a quarter pounds?? YUMMMSSS! I love catfish! And I had to be stuck in Denver all weekend! Between your thread and Clairz on the chuckwagon cookoff your torturing me, and I'm trying to lose weight, for crying out loud! Oh well 402 south of Clayton and I can be in Clovis later that evening gorging on more food, especially chili. Maybe next year!

Wink A typo, I hope

Wow, that's my birthday! Maybe I should try to make it there. I doubt that I'd want to buy the whole shebang, though.

Boy, that's a nice fish!! Is channel cat the norm up there? That fish looks sort of like a hybrid of channel cat/yellow cat. It has a wider mouth than I am used to seeing on channel cat!

Where we always fished in TX, we never ate channel, because they tasted so muddy, and it does depend on their environment.

I really miss fishing, and can't wait to find a good place somewhere!!

Channel cat is the norm. We did have a guy catch a 19lb Walleye, which would have been a State record! The current Walleye record was 16lb 9oz. The Fish and Game said it was an illegal catch, they said he snagged it which is illegal in NM, she was huge. I need to get some more pics of that one too.

We had a hotdog eating competition, people would be ticked if we dropped it lol.
For $5 (for kids) and $15 (for adults 13 or over) they get into the drawing for the 150 or so prizes, get free hotdogs (all they can eat) both days and free drinks too. Cant get many family events that cheap!

Looking forward to seeing that one, Brian. I'm not familiar with walleyed pike at all....have never seen one in person (in fish?!?)...but I'm looking forward to learning how to fly fish for trout.

There is no comparison in the flavor of wild-caught catfish, as opposed to farm-raised. We always ate yellowcat, and threw channel back. I believe that all farm-raised is channel, as I think I read that yellow cat does not do well in fish farm environments.

Do you have forked-tail blue cat up there?
