Crime exists everywhere including the affluent suburb of Londonderry, New Hampshire where we currently reside. Some jerks tried to jimmy the lock on my ’92 Buick wagon and did $400 dollars damage to the steering column. We have the most problem in the summer. I heard the cops actually caught some kids with “burglar tools”. I hope they prosecuted the vermin.
I am not very concerned with property crime but am very concerned with assault on my wife and me. If it ever seems likely I’ll remember that NM has a “right to carry” law and will be appropriately armed.

Los Alamos may be the safest place to live in all of NM. Good luck!

Los Alamos may be safe, but petty crimes against property take place. Mostly bored kids of affluent parents vandalizing and getting into mischief.

I dont think anything can compare to Roswell. The crime rate per capita is the same as Los Angeles.Due to lack of good paying jobs and there not being any community involvement. Most people worry about themselves instead of our young people in our community.Community programs to keep our children busy and out of trouble.Lets stop putting our kids in the system and teach them right from wrong, they are our future.

Kinda depends where? If your closer to Los Lunas or the I-25 areas then a pretty good area. If your out by Meadow lake on the eastern side then not so good. Overall i wouldn't have a problem at all living in Valencia Co....

Los Alamos would not be a prime choice unless you *prefer* cold and snow... there are very many warmer and less expensive areas in the US. I think Safford AZ would be a great choice... do a little research on that and see if it's appealing.

I think this is unfair, and not exactly true. There certainly is no shortage of wealth in Los Alamos, but to say that the "petty crimes" are a result of "bored kids of affluent parents" makes it seem like the town is full of spoiled brats with no regard for the law. I never once heard of anybody who decided to vandalize another person's property for recreation, unless you're talking about TPing, which isn't what I'd call a crime.
