Im not worried about crime at all, I dont feel threatend and if I do then someones gonna get dealt with, but anyways I have been a victim of several crimes, I have witnessed some crimes and I know about plenty from friends and family when they were victims,so believe me I've seen my fair amount from break-ins to shootings.Im not scared about it,its just normal so you gotta have some common sense. If I get broken into, its no big deal, why, cause its expected, sometime I will get broken into again im sure.

But there is just too many crimes to list that have happened to me,or have witnessed or that I know about, and believe me some stuff I would rather not know about.

People need to use common sense in any city. You're not going to be pumping gas at 3 in the morning, getting cash from your ATM at that hour or strolling around the streets - right? Find a decent neighhood, use common sense and enjoy life!!
I completely agree with this post. I have also lived in L.C. for three years. I haven't seen one offense committed by one person against another. If you live a conventional life, and go about your business (as I think I do) then you will be so much the better, irrespective of where you live.

Crime is everywhere, to varying degrees. I live in CT., due East of our illustrious capitol city, Hartford, where a elderly man was run down in the street like a dog. There's a video of it and unbelievably, people just stood there and watched and did nothing to help the poor guy (now paralyzed from neck down).

I hope that this type of attitude isn't prevalent in New Mexico...? Are New Mexicans more likely than not to help in situations like these?

It's my understanding that four people called 911 for help in less than a minute after it happened....and this poor man was helped in very short order.

Is that not true? It was terrible to think that people would just ignore it like they made it out.

I dont live a gangsta lifestyle and I dont hang out at all hours of the night,I use to in my late teens and early 20's which wernt that long ago and that is when I did see most of the crimes, but there have been times when its just tottaly random.I mind my business now,I dont party and I dont know too many people here,so I dont go out looking for trouble.

There are some people who will never see or experience a crime but then there are the people who will, for instance my parents mind their business and my mom has had her windows shot out for no reason and my dad has had his tires slashed.

I have had a gun pulled on me before over a girl,I have seen a drive-by years back,I seen a armed robbery at a convience store,I've had my car vandalized or broken into four times,my apartment broken into twice, identity theft twice and I had nothing to do with any of this.

I was comming home one night from work, I stopped at a stop sign a few blocks from my house and seen the swat team walking down the street in the dark with guns in hand and the police helicopter shining the spotlight down on me, come to find out they were looking for a guy that was shooting at the police and he ran somewhere around my neighborhood, another night I came home from work and seen my apartment complex surrounded by cops cause a guy got shot in the face and I also have 2 friends that got minor gun shot wounds in seperate incidents.

I also have family that have caused their share of problems from drugs to burglaries and my ex-girlfriends family might as well have family reunions in prison and what they are in trouble for is a hell of alot more serious than anything I have ever seen.

So, its not that Im afraid of crime but I know its there and the reality is it can be random even if you lead a good life.

and there were a few serious incidents that I dont want to get into and trust me they are alot more serious than what I have posted.

I never once heard of anybody who decided to vandalize another person's property for recreation, unless you're talking about TPing, which isn't what I'd call a crime.
I grew up in Los Alamos and still visit often (I still have family there) and it is true, petty crimes there ARE a result of bored kids. There are a lot of spoiled brats there with no regard for the law; it's a small town, if mommy and daddy know the police chief they aren't getting in trouble. I remember parties in high school where the cops would show up and only do something if certain key sports players were not there. If the LAHS basketball star was there, the cops wouldn't do anything. It's a small town with nothing to do, so yes the petty crimes there are a result of spoiled brats with no regard for the law.

Crime is everywhere. Here in Eastern OK, everyone carries a gun too and it is pretty scary. Meth is the problem everywhere so I do not think New Mexico has anything worst. Look at it this way, when I am in Northern New Mexico where I visit every year I do hot worry about drive by shootings as I do when I visit my family in California. Here is Okie land there is no drive by shooting just drugiess on the road so I guess you can die in either State.
