Default cities in new mexico with the most crime

I just want a little feed back on what people think the worst towns in New Mexico are, and where they would least like to live.

Grew up in Las Vegas, all of surrounding area is bad. Espanola is really bad too. Heard that majority of residents carry guns in thier cars.

We left New Mexico three years ago. We didnt want to raise our family there.
Roswell, Alb, Farmington, Espanola, Santa Fe, Hobbs, Carlsbad, Las Cruces, Deming, T or C, Belen, Los Lunas, Bernalillo, and Las Vegas oh yeah Raton, Portales, and Clovis also.
They are all bad.

Las Cruces had one of the lowest crime rates in the country, I don't agree with that one. New Mexico is not all bad, I love it here, it's beautiful.

Default Crime rate comparison

Go to Google, enter 2004 Crime rate comparison, and you can compare crime rates for most cities. El Paso is much lower than national avg, Las Cruces is much higher. Also, Texas has no state income tax. Im not promoting ELP or TX, just passing on info.

Default Crime in NM

As a former NM prosecutor with several District Attorney's offices, all I can say is that crime stats don't tell the story. If you could see what I have seen . . . . The horrible things people do to people. I prosecuted juveniles in Roswell, and WHOW! They are unreal in violence and attitude. They are not at all afraid of the system and more than ready to severely injure someone if they think that will get them what they want.
Grants is bad.
Roswell is off the chart.
Las Cruces is evil.
TorC is overwhelming for such a small place.
And talking to other DA's and ADA's it is the same everywhere.

yes Grants is absolutely horrible. My grandparents live there. There is nothing to do so kids create chaos.

Default this place is the dumps

Gallup is a bad place, on a list I found on this website Gallup had the 4th worst (i think it was) crime index out of every city in America----look it up-- and also Belen and Los Lunas was on that list. They have alot of robberies for only having 19,000 people and those people over there are viscious, and also Albuquerque has had 3 police officers murdered in the last 8 months.

Thumbs down Hobbs area

Hobbs does have a high crime rate. There are serveral gangs here, and they don't care what they do. The police staff is short handed. They have combined all 9th graders into one school that isn't big enough for all students, and it is the worse school for a child to attend! I have transfered my daughter to a school out of town because of this. I would not recommend anyone moving to Hobbs to raise a family, now if you already have kids grown and moved out, Hobbs is okay. The weather here is outstanding outside of the wind and blowing dirt we 90% of the time. We have a casino which is very nice, and a huge waterpark that is nice, and serveral outdoor pools, one in door pool at the highschool, there is a Teen Center which is good for the kids, and the Boys and girls club. The skating rink here is run by thugs, and it isn't safe for kids to be there without an adult at any age. There is a movie theatre that has 7 screens, but really unless your an adult that likes to gamble, there isn't anything here for familys. I would move from here in a heart beat. I have lived here all my life. So if anyone is considering moving here to Hobbs, NM, reconsider!!! Teenage pregancy is real high here also ranging from as early as 12 to 16. Would recommend visiting the Zia Park Casino, but that is about it.
