Info about San Jon
Sissybr, there is a person on the New Mexico forum who posts under the name of Sanjon. You might try getting in touch with him/her. There is some info at http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-m...ew-mexico.html. If you click on "Sanjon" you can see other posts about the area.
I have never been to San Jon but we are going to travel through there later this morning. I'll take my camera along and try to get some photos to share with you.

For Oilfield, you need to go much further south to Tatum, Lovington, Hobbs, Eunice, and Jal. Or Roswell, Artesia, and Carlsbad.

it's all oilfields and trash in SE NM - sorry to say. I can see your reluctancy for moving to that region. You might as well move to a third world country.

We went to San Jon yesterday--no oil rigs, but there are lots of windmills in the area. Lots of cattle grazing.
I'm not sure exactly how to load photos to this forum, so if you just go to my blog, I put them there together with the information I found out. Zees Go West: Welcome to San Jon. Hope this helps!
