My search for a new home base starts soon. Planning on arriving in Albuq. NM, this week, spend the night, get on my Harley and ride around New Mexico and southern Colorado for 20 days.

I am planning on a few days each in Ruidoso, Silver City, maybe Jemez Springs, Santa Fe, Taos, Red River and then onto Pagosa Springs and trip ending in Durango, Co.

Having never been to Ruidoso or Silver City and thinking of relocating to the state, I would like to see these towns before deciding on a new home base. Days will be spent with realtors and nights in town talking to locals.

If there are really neat things to see ,please let me know.

Jemez Springs is worth a visit but you can pretty much see a lot in one day. It is a common one day drive from the Albuquerque area.. I had done a few rides there on motorcycle several times....

You could go from ABQ to Jemez Springs on the way to Taos or Santa Fe....

For us, there are several reasons for living in the ABQ area...

Be sure not to miss the drive through Cimarron, Eagle Nest, Red River and Questa. I've ridden that route on several different motorcycles over the years, and I always love it. Have fun!

Not sure whether it would be a good or bad idea to be in Ruidoso during the annual fall motorcycle rally. It runs from Sept 14-18 this year.

It will be harder to focus on getting an accurate idea of the "normal" weekends in Ruidoso with thousands of motorcyclists to watch out for. But...
it should be great riding weather anyway.

Gas station are few and far between in rural NM, gas up when you can.
Also, cell phone coverage can be spotty, especially in the mountains.

Enjoy your ride!
