Silver sounds like a nice place. But, I have respiratory allergies/asthma that are getting worse as I age. I moved to a mountain town in N. Arizona a few years ago from coastal California. I have never had such severe allergy attacks in my life. A few months ago the Juniper pollen was going crazy, and I thought I was going to die. Currently there are controlled burns taking place in the forests around here. I need a gas mask. Los Angeles air was never this bad! I guess the dust in Lordsburg would kill me.
In addition, I don't fit in around here because I don't attend the local Fundamentalist church or get excited about monster truck rallies. I was not cut-out for a life of fast food, Walmart, and cable TV. I guess I will be heading back the Coast.

Lordsburg used to be like Las Vegas Nevada back in the day.
Lordsburg pretty much died down after I-10 was built. Lordsburg is what you make of it. No industry, but the copper mines in other close towns near by.
Lordsburg is the county seat.
Driving to Tucson is only about a 3 hour drive. A nice drive. Anything you want like mountains, lakes, cities, hunting, concerts etc; you can find near by.
Lordsburg is not in MEXICO, it is in NEW MEXICO! New Mexico is one of the 50 states. (OF AMERICA) Everyone there speaks english. Alot of people can speak spanish, so the hispanic population will not bother you. Some people can be ignorant. I know it was not you asking. I was reading some of the other entries, and it was not directed at you.
There is a clinic and paramedic. Police, sheriff, border patrol, and state- police.

I am sick of the big city (having lived in one all this time). I have had it with gangs, traffic, smog, big box stores, and the high cost of living. I am eyeing Lordsburg. I am ready for some lonely desert living.
I have never been to Lordsburg, but grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. lived in Lordsburg from the late 19th century until 1918. I grew up hearing family stories about the place. I sort of consider the place ancestral home ground (I hope that I will not regret saying that upon actually visiting the place).
I have read on some of these threads that Lordsburg is on the verge of ghost town status. Is this true? Isn't it the county seat?
I am impressed with the low crime rate in Lordsburg. Is it really a safe place? Are the "natives" friendly? (Hey, we might be related).
Is the town terribly run-down? According to relatives who lived there several generations ago it was a busy little town. Are there any signs of a possible revival? It seems to me that its close proximity to Tucson, the I10, the RR, natural surroundings, and its decent climate leaves open the possibility of some, at least limited, economic development.
I have an internet based business and would need to visit Tucson or Las Cruces 3 or 4 times per month. Does anyone know if the train is an option? How much does a train ride from Lordsburg to Tucson cost? And, how long does it take? How often does the train run?
Is there a fire department, with paramedics, to haul my arse to a hospital should the need arise?
I am able to speak some Spanish and I am willing to become fluent if necessary.
I would be glad to hear any Lordsburg-related stories, complaints, experiences (even if it involves extra-terrestrials).
OK, now that I have typed out all these questions I am aware of the possibility that nobody will answer. Lordsburg may already be a ghost town.

Can't recommend it!!!!
I used to live in this hole in the wall. Worst place I had ever been too and I have been half way around the world. Quite a few people are nice and very compassionate. A lot of drugs used to go around, guess because there was nothing else to do. One of their cops is a rapist!
I passed through there a couple of years ago and they finally have a McDonalds and some other essentials.
I still would not want to move back there. Most young people leave to El Paso, Tucson, Phoenix or California. Only a few come back.
It is relative cheap to live there but work opportunities are scares.
For a while they had no DR in the Town and you had to drive to either Deming or Silver City. Going Shopping was the same story. Two grocery stores but they were rather expensive.

Lordsburg
I have been living in Lordsburg because my spouse has a job at one of the mines and when we moved here we didn't know about the housing and rental shortages at that time so the only place to live was Lordsburg,Nm. Yes it does need a cosmetic make over.We bought a home in this small town.It is the quietest town I have ever lived in and it seems like everyone keeps to themselfs.I would love to see a Walmart move here. Traveling so far is the only complaint I have and wish a hospital was closer.I have been living here for 16 months and starting to really enjoy the laid back atmosphere. It has possibility's ..........

Lordsburg
Was there over 25 years ago in Lordsburg and do not remember any thing about the Town but if i loved the Country life with nice people around it wouldnt be a bad place to live. I Liked the people in Bayard and Silver City. I think the Arizona Border is about 15 miles away from Lordsburg so that means theres probably lots of Desert and Saguario cactuses. el pintada kid

MCDONALDS'S is not an essential. Slandering law enforcement can be a crime, and drugs are everywhere!

My husband worked with the Border Patrol in Lordsburg from 2004-2006, we lived in Silver City. Had I known how much time he would have spent away from home I probably would have tried to live in Lordsburg. Alot of agents live in Silver City, it is okay. Real estate is expensive due to the influx of CA buyers or at least it was 2 yrs ago. There are very few rentals in Silver. If you are nature lover it is a good place to be. The people that I ran into the few times I was in Lordsburg were friendly but as someone said there is nothing to do and very few places to shop. Everyone who lives there usually grocery shops in Silver at WalMart. You can also drive 60 miles to Deming or go to Tucson. Silver does have the college. This all being said my husband just had the chance to put in for a job there and I told him no way. If you are moving for the Border Patrol they are a pretty tight knit bunch and will help you out.
