Hello
I am relocating to New Mexico in November/December and am in the process of buying a older ranchette on 2 acres fenced for a horse in Las Chavez area of Los Lunas. I have good credit (740ish) and my insurance rates are coming back 1000+ and $379 for flood insurance per year which seems high compared to what I have read
Does anyone know if this is normal for the area? I have read and heard mixed reviews about the area but it seems to be in a quiet area and perfect for my horse and dogs.. I have never had to pay Flood Insurance but my insurance in Phoenix Arizona same deductables and a smaller house, I only pay $600 a year ( no property though) .. I was just wondering if other people in New Mexico have experience with higher then normal insurance rates? I have gotten 3 estimates and don't want to hit up my credit report with any more inquirys.. I am just a tad concerned - Maybe the crime is just bad in that area and that is why the rates are higher ( and in a flood zone )
Just curious and would apprieciate any feedback anyone has
