Default retirement search T or C area

We've raised our family and we're ready to leave! We are looking for a quiet lake-view area to relocate for retirement with a mild climate. We're interested in fishing, golf, biking, hiking (love the out-of-doors), gardening, involvement in community activities. Any information from anyone in the T or C area would be appreciated. We're hoping to begin our search soon.

Hi Cindy, My husband and I are retireing to Elephant Butte in 07 ,we have already purchased a home .We love it there.I am upset over the other messages that seem to trash NM in general.I would like to say that coming from So California we find the area and the people a refreshing treat compared to the nasty attitudes that most people here have.[mostly on the freeways}...We have been treated with friendly faces and kindness most every where we have been.......Sure there are areas that we wouldnt want to live in but overall we have enjoyed being all over the state . I know EB and TC are not for every one because it is very small and shopping is limited, however the road to Las Cruces is a good one and about an hours drive is not all that bad.Elephant Butte Lake is HUGE and one of the main vacationing spots in the state.Housing in the area is somewhat limited but has a wide range of prices with some new home areas in the works.I love New Mexico and am anxious to get there full time .Give it a look see......BEB

Default Silver City A Good Choice

Silver City is a good place to live although small it isn't far from Las Cruces and it has a mild climate with mostly sunny warm days and cool nights. I'd reconsider moving to T or C. Just knowing the town, I'd say you'd be better off moving to Silver City or Las Cruces instead.

My wife's grandmother is in T or C and I've been there many times. I hate it. However, I should stipulate that I'm just not a desert person, so my opinion starts off a bit jaded. But I think T or C is one of the worst towns in NM.

I'd definitely recommend Silver City or Las Cruces over T or C.
