We got 5 to 7 inches of snow during the night. Sure is beautiful here in Silver City. We still went out for our usual Saturday morning breakfast.

Default Icing on the cake

This storm amounts to icing on the cake for Ski Apache! They even managed to get the gondola in operation this weekend - as they did over the MLK holiday weekend. The "Snotel" auto-recording weather station adjacent to the ski area (on Nat. Forest lands) is showing 5 FT. of snow as of now, and it's still snowing in town at 10:30am when I did this web capture of the web-cam on the main business street through "mid-town."

I just looked at the Village cam and Ski Apace cam and it almost looks like whiteout. Should be good for business. Our place is booked 21 out of 31 days in January. Keep snowing. Go El Nino!

Default Snow! - All Of New Mexico Snow Reports

Anyone else seeing any snow around the state?

There was lots of snow on the Jemez peaks this morning, and a little bit of snow on the Sangres in Santa Fe.

There was snow on Sierra Blanca yesterday, just a dusting. I will be in Ruidoso in two weeks and then back to the desert until April. I really don't like snow. I lived in Chicago for 23 years and don't care for cold winter weather at all anymore.

I wonderfed about that, bradly, because from my viewpoint, the snow on the Sangres didn't look like a lot.

But I heard on the radio that the Santa Fe Ski area got a lot and they are really optimistic about being opened on Thanksgiving Day.
