Recently a friend of mine was behind on his NM state taxes. The state taxation board told him pay up
or we will seize your house and all bank accounts, vehicle etc.
They would not offer a installment plan. His house is levied by the state. He does have it on the market to sell, however sales are slow in his area.

Pack up and move out of state or?

I told him to call an attorney, however that costs big $$.

Any help re: NM taxation.

I worked for the Taxation and Revenue Department for 25 years. There are few instances where they do not agree to a payment plan. This is something that didn't just happen. Sounds like it has been something that has been unresolved for a long time. It is very expensive to seize property and auction it off. I did it once and it was hell. Levies are done as a last resort. I rarely saw them done.
