Yes, very small. I live less than an hour from it, yet I have not been there. The FedEx guy says the new paved road is great. It could help push real estate prices up. You might go to realtor.com and plug in the Timberon ZIP code to get an idea of current housing prices. I saw some pretty good-looking deals there a couple of years ago, but I have no idea what's available now.

Hod-fob, btrouble52 lives there and is a nice person. You might Personal Message btrouble52 about Timberon. Or if you are here btrouble52, chime in about Timberon. I do know they have a golf course Hod-fob that as far as I know is open. It is a very small, out of the way town. I haven't been there either but I have heard about it. I imagine those few Timberon citizens have no idea that a stampede of people will be making a beeline to their town since it is now paved! I can already hear the roar of motor homes...

My husband and I have a 5th wheel trailer in Timberon now, and are building a home there and are very excited. It's a laid-back culture that we are looking forward to "hermitting" in. The people are nice. Lots of retirees. The nearest public school is in Cloudcroft, NM. I think it's a good place for independent people who don't need alot of shopping and other activity around. Self-contained, for sure.
Yes, there is an active golf course there - it is very popular in the summer time..rates are very reasonable. There's even a Lodge, Bar & Grill at the Golf Course.
You can get a copy of the Mountain Times newspaper and get all kinds of information. Go to the Timberon.com website and check it out. There are several businesses - restaurants, motel, condos, hardware store, grocery stores (small ones), and construction and service companies like Propane, telephone company, etc. There's even a LIBRARY in the lodge and an open swimming pool in the summer.
You can get homes ranging all over the place, from $67K to $200K (and up, probably).
Check it out. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

It sounds like Timberon is growing fast. I'm going to come out next year and have a look at it. I hope it isn't going to grow too much. I would hate to 'get away from it all' just to get right back into it!
