Lake Valley, Sierra County, New Mexico?

Have you been there?

Have you researched it?

Yes, it is isolated. There are no houses for sale there. The townsite is partly privately owned, and partly owned by the US Bureau of Land Management, which has restricted access to the old buildings....

It's about 15 miles north of Hillsboro, NM with some nice ranches for 1,500,000 dollars in the area.

I looked into Deming and Socorro. Interesting how almost a lot of the houses under 50K are labeled "manufactured". Are these trailers? I don't mind living in a trailer, just not in a trailer park type of setting.

Manufactured housing is commonly known as mobile homes.

also "pre-fab" housing, not intended for mobility. just cheap, small, flimsy throwaway construction surrounded by feeble landscaping - senior housing for the soc. sec. crowds and urban renewal projects for the younger set. to be replaced by the high-rise tenements of the future.

A buddy at Boeing always told me (this conversation would've taken place in the early 2000's sometime) that manufactured housing actually is built to hold up better than stick frame. I begged ta differ but he insisted that manufactured homes hold up in storms, hurricanes, etc., better than stick frames. Never googled this ta confirm his belief. Y'all intervene if you think my former Boeing workmate is full of it or correct in this matter.

That is not really the topic of this thread... if santa fe is the most expensive city in NM, then what is considered the opposite?

Define cheap in your dictionary?

someone sent me a PM about Sunland Park and Chaparral. They are close to El Paso, TX. Not sure how close but I'm guessing closer than Las Cruces is. Las Cruces is about 1 hour from El Paso. Would those 2 New Mexico cities be considered western part of the state since they are bordering Texas?

sun valley was also mentioned...

Sunland park borders Texas and Mexico. Chaparral is also in that general area, and about 30 miles from El Paso. Both are in New Mexico and are in the Southeast part of the state.
