Harry,
I was referring to this quote by you. The way I read it is that illegals are only here for the jobs no one else wants?
From my experiance I really don't think thats the only work they are after. Plus illegals do want to suck the social welfare nipple dry at the expense of the legal citizens.

Quite right. I mean, they are constantly busting illegals in bases and federal property doing the jobs that Americans would love to do. And they do in fact get welfare and I am tired of people who say they don't. My sister still works for the state of NM and lives in Las CRuces and passes out checks and such to people sh knows are illegal but she is not allowed to even bring it up. I would like to see this state pass laws like Oklahoma and Georgia and stop them. That way they would self-deport. All we, as a nation, would have to do is make sure the employers have to pay the price for illegally hiring illegals.

yb.....She states they are hired Anywhere...Well.not where i work are they hired !! Secondly stating that they are at White Sands Missle Range...O.K....doing what....Manning the Missle launch control systems ?? Thats fine as she can rant and rage all she wants as she's entitled but before stating ''You know Me'' (which you don't) come live on the border as i and my relatives have since 1970 and seen what i and they have seen for 37 years by illegal aliens then get back to me about ''How Ya Know Me''

Okay people, I've just spent more time than I care to editing and deleting the personal commentary. This thread is not about politics or illegal immigration -- take that to the politics forum please.
If you want to start a thread about immigration issues specific to New Mexico then do so. But if any flaming starts I'll just delete things or lock it. Thanks for your consideration in supporting city-data policies.

Man this thread sure has taken some twist and turns. I think pretty much every thing has been argued over in the fearful thread.

I've looked and I've looked and I can't see where
anyone claimed East St. Louis is not (in) Illinois
or claimed that it was somewhere else.
Where did the facts get mixed up?

This is certainly a negative and contentious thread.
To get back to the original topic, I have spent a good deal of time in Albuquerque and have never found any ill-feeling directed at me. It must be my splendid personality. Like all big cities, it has its problems. There are areas here in Ft Worth that I wouldn't care to have my car break down in, especially after the sun goes down. I wouldn't hesitate to move to ABQ if I could live in one of the nicer parts. In fact, I just might, although I'd prefer a smaller town.

This thread is more than a year old, and it seems to me it should have been moved to the ABQ subforum long ago. Why is it still in the general NM forum?
Also, 120+ posts about a state with 2 million people hardly represents the true picture. I don't doubt the bad experiences people have reported, but they come from a tiny cross section (about .005 percent) of the state's population.
The best way to get to know a place is to go there an experience it for yourself. Forums are helpful, but don't make all your decisions based on them.

Just some info on Bill Richardson. Tonight on national TV, he said that undocumented illegals would be part of his universal health care program for the USA. So we are going to pay for health care for the illegals. Or are we already doing this. Sorry for these comments, but this was a follow up to the previous comments about Richardson. Now I will keep quiet.

I heard on KKOB last week (Villanucci show) that Bush is pulling most of the 1,000 National Guard troops on the NM border that are helping the Border Patrol. I see that Sen Bingaman, Rep Heather Wilson and Rep Steve Pierce (where's Pete?) are strongly opposed and are giving Bush and Earful about it. Lets hope they are successful.....
