Here is a story on the proposed Stack Interchange to be built at I-25 & Paseo, it looks to be about the same size as the Big I with an overall cost of 350 million. When you open the link, click on the pictures to the left to view the renderings of what is planned.

State seeks input on changes in Paseo del Norte and I-25 intersection : Local : Albuquerque Tribune

ObHeh: Heh. You mean *start* it quick(?) I guess that the actual construction of the Coors/I-40 and Big-I was reasonably fast, but it's still going to be painful. The line-up must be a half-mile long on a daily basis during the evening rush hour.

Great link you posted Mr. Observe! I **LOVE** the flyover for the Northbound I-25 traffic to head West (which will move the parking lot from the South-of-the-light-at-Paseo lanes to somewhere on to the West on Paseo). However, I don't see any way for Soutbound I-25 traffic to get on Eastbound Paseo on [Alternative 13].

And another thing I noticed is that by passing over Jefferson, they didn't mention an "exit" to get onto Jefferson. I wonder if this is proposed. What ever they do, they need to ****start**** it quick!

Problem is we are 500 million in the hole (NMDOT). Canceled road projects include:

I-25 north from Tramway to Bernalillo (U.S.550)
New Interchange at San Mateo and I-40
Phase II I-40 from 98th St. to Paseo Volcan
I-25 south from Gibson Blvd to Rio Bravo

Unless the Legislature finds a new funding source then it will be years if any of these projects are completed.

As soon as they want to raise the gasoline tax to fund it, I'm all for it and all the projects mentioned.

I think the Railrunner was about $500m. How ironic.

Another big problem area is San Antonio and I-25. The far NE heights uses this road to access I-25 rather than Paseo - the backup is getting worse every day.

I used to get off at San Antonio and take the frontage road to Paseo. You are right, I can't even do that now because San Antonio has gotten so busy. So now, to get to my house I get off at Alameda, and take San Pedro back up to Paseo. They need to get this handled post haste!
