"A mind's its own place and can make a heaven of hell or a hell of heaven." as Milton said.
I've lived in AUstin in my college years, and visited Albuquerque. I think both places are great. You can make the most o any place or Moderator cut: edit any place. Last edited by christina0001; 02-06-2008 at 09:19 PM. Reason: inappropriate language |

Really enjoyed your post of Detroit pjkatz. It brought back many good memories. I was born and raised in Toledo Ohio. We attended many events in Detroit. Not to mention the Elmwood Casino in Windsor Canada. We seen many singers got their breaks at the casino.
Far as bashing....Toledo had a song written about her that went...."You can see the bread rise in Toledo Ohio". The song writer thought there was nothing to do in our city, but we our style of life. I remember seeing from our office downtown, farmers plowing and coming into the city in bib overalls to pay taxes. It wasn't town & country it was city & country. We didn't care what others thought. What concerned us was our businesses either heading south or automated. This was a real truth. |

Thankyoui for putting down or Homestate and insulting all of us who live and work hard here in New Mexico and the Southwest USA. We have people who are business owners or going to school or helping guide our cities and towns as mayors and city councilors, police and firefighters , oil and gas field producers , national labs workers and stationed at our military bases , cattle and dairy farmers and ranchers that produce foods for our country etc.. etc... Like Ohio is a bastion of Beautiful cities?? Ive been to Columbus and Cincinnati and have heard the large Urban Ghetto stories of Cleveland as all 3 of these cities in Ohio are GHETTO and Awful from my experiences. So you might want to cut down your Ohio first before putting us down as you did. And by the way this is our Home so of course we are going to defend it Moderator cut: edit Last edited by christina0001; 02-06-2008 at 09:18 PM. Reason: removed personal attack |

mid-western sweetie complained:
> My husband am I moved here after what we thought was alot of research. I'm guessing that didn't include actually coming here in advance and checking it out? That would have been good. Really, it would (have). Franko advised: > ... You can make the most o any place or Moderator cut: edit any place. Most eloquent. Of all the places I have lived, I liked Houston the least. I wouldn't live there again (except temporarily) for any job opportunity. However, when I was there, I had a great time exploring. I'd like to go back and see some of those places again. I found beautiful neighborhoods as well as places I wanted out of ASAP. I liked it the least, but I still managed to like it. If you are a compulsive whiner then it doesn't matter where you are, you'll whine about something. You'll also manage to offend a bunch of people, but that's part of the thrill, isn't it? Mortimer, You've stated that very well. I've been in Dayton for 9 years now, and it has not been the ideal place for me, at all. However, I can think of plenty of good things to say about this place, and I know that there are many things that I will miss. If you are "stuck" in a place, you can certainly make the most of it--you might as well. Life is an adventure. I've never regretted any of my moves. |

Penelopelp.......I persinally hold no ill feelings towards Ohio or it's citizens and really feel bad for it as it's been hammered over the years by it's factories closing there going overseas as thats bad for them and our country. [Mod Cut] Again thats totally cool if someone doesn't like our state for what ever reason as i understand if they bring up honest differences and concerns at that's understandable and i would wish them well in their travels. > > ... Ohio is a bastion of Beautiful cities?? > you could add Dayton, .... Actually, Ohio has some of the finest little towns with Victorian architecture you'll ever want to see. Dayton: Oregon District 3 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! 10-02-07 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Lebanon: The Golden Lamb Inn, Ohio's oldest Inn. Lebanon, Ohio on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Eaton: Eaton Ohio 048 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Eaton Ohio 066 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Apartment available on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Other: Hamilton architecture on Flickr - Photo Sharing! While I was looking, I found this - 6'3" might like it, so I posted it too: Cointoss Sept. 4 1981 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! I only wish I could have found some better pictures of the fabulous (old tree)-lined streets full of Victorian houses. If you have ever driven N out of downtown Colorado Springs (Cascade Ave, I think) - it's like that. |
