Truth or Consequences
Anyone live there? Care to comment on it? I was there in the 80's and liked it. Has it turned yuppy?

Try using the search function. There are a couple of threads on T or C. From reading them TorC sounds like hippiville with hot water.

I did not say it was bad. In fact I just might like it a lot but I would prefer to have a college nearby.

Try Socorro. There are supposed to be some hot springs in the mountains "nearby" and New Mexico Tech is in town.

I think we have a different idea of "near by". I meant a reasonable couple mile walk.

torc is a nice place to visit once every 10 years or so!! It has too many "old hippies" to be comfortable to me. giggle giggle!!
University is close!!! less than 100 miles!!!
but don't mind me!! I am used to having to drive 2 hours to get milk and bread.

I went to a spa there
in 2004 called Sierra Grande. Sierra Grande Lodge & Spa - Home I went in October for my birthday and it was beautiful. From what I could tell, it did not seem to have turned yuppie. A lady at a bookstore called Xotchil's told me T or C is where people from Santa Fe go when they get burned out on all the tourism. She said they get there and ask what they ought to "do" first. (there is not a lot to do there) The drive from Albuquerque to T or C is especially wonderful, yet no one really emphasizes it to tourists. I kind of like that area better than northern New Mexico and the whole Santa Fe thing in fact.
