I love to read about weird and interesting places where ever I live. I've taken notice that people on city data know this stuff pretty well, so I've come to ask and find out!
Now, by weird and/or interesting I mean things like abandoned theme parks (e.g the beach), towns that have quite the history (e.g Madrid), forgotten projects (e.g electric trolley on central), natural and man made caves (e.g Edgewood being laced with caverns), and other random stuff. If it's strange, abandoned, or even just has history (e.g cliffs), I'd like to hear about it.
I've done the best I can to reap common knowledge of the things mentioned on Google, but I'm running out of things to read! Haha
Not sure if this is what you're seeking, but there are a couple of books you could check - Miracles and Mysteries of New Mexico and More Miracles and Mysteries of New Mexico. There's also one from the 1940s, Murder and Mystery in New Mexico. If you want to read straight, but very readable, histories of New Mexico, read some of Mark Simmons' books.
Great list! I have seen it in the past, but can never remember it. They even have the "Large Green Dinosaur" ! Albuquerque, NM - Self Storage Dinosaur etc, and other sights are the areas.
Also, equating the weird with the eerie, there is a lot of interesting stuff to be found by GOOGLING on the phrase; "Ghost Towns of New Mexico." I'm sure there are plenty of spooky things going on in many of those places for those looking for that sort of experience.
