Default Relocating: Areas to look at good for horses

We have horses and I am wondering what areas would be the best to look at for good grazing and pasture land.

I don't live there but I'm considering it also, you will need to look for land that has water rights to irrigate pasture, otherwise it's pretty much dirt lots from what I understand.

There are several people I know that do live in different areas without water rights but they have lots of acres with established natural grasses and they rotate frequently and don't over graze.

I'd also love to hear from some NM horse keepers.

It is safe to say that New Mexico has a lot of great places for horse lovers. 6 FOOT 3 is right, it is really hard to direct you to anywhere until you have a ballpark idea of which part of the state you are considering.

Default how many

The eastern side of the mountains is generally wetter and has fairly reliable groundwater

A pretty fair number of cutting horse and roping horse breeders have located in the region between Watrous and Springer. (Between Las Vegas and Raton.)
This area is grassland plateau drained by the Canadian River system. A few fingers of the Oglalla Aquifer extend that way. The country is still pretty empty and land is still fairly affordable.

BTW- if your thinking big, the Bell Ranch is up for sale 250K plus acres (?) only $115 million asking
