Wow, and just like that a familiar name is gone from our circle. May she rest in peace, may her family find solace, and let' s all appreciate each other just a little more.
She was born in San Angelo and grew up in Ozona, and graduated from Ozona's high school. She did live in the panhandle while attending Texas Tech in Lubbock. Following college, she taught for 2 years in Rankin before moving to Midland. The majority of her working career was spent working for oil interests in Midland for 30 years before moving to Alamogordo in retirement.
Shocking news and I'm sad to hear this. I was just thinking of her yesterday. She was also a facebook friend and we talked back and forth about places each of us wanted to move in the future. She had talked about Ruidoso.
I am terribly sad to hear this news. I knew she was planning on moving from Alpine and I just thought she was busy getting everything finished up on her house so it would be ready to sell. I feel so bad that I didn't reach out to her in these last few months, but this news comes as a big shock to me. Cathy was active and we use to talk about our swims, etc. so this is just totally unexpected.
I hate that this happened to her. She was a great gal and I enjoyed our conversations. She was close to her younger sister who recently moved from Austin to Corpus and she did go visit her back in the spring so I'm glad they had that time together.

She also lived in Farmington, NM for a while and told me that was an ideal place for weather, but she always wanted to move back to Texas from Alamogordo and she did ... Alpine. Rest in peace, Cathy!
Very sad news indeed. She and I dm'ed each other every now and than and talked about a variety of towns and cities in SW Colorado, West Texas, and New Mexico. She will be greatly missed.

Well put, TexasGabe, we never know when we're going to leave this earth, so let's treat each other with kindness and respect while we're all here.
