Yup, this upcoming fire season is already starting to look bad. Need to get out and do a rain/snow dance soon I guess.

Just read where the west in general got lots of snow this winter. Average was 120% of normal. Colorado really got dumped on and skiing lasted longer than normal. For some odd reason , it sounds like southern NM got left short.

Here in northern Illinois, we got 60 inches of snow versus normal of around 34 inches. This was the most snow here since the winter of 1978-79 when we got about 90 inches.

Sorry for all of you in NM who really wanted snow. Wish we could have sent you some of ours. I got tired of snowblowing the driveway. But the views here were absolutely stunning. For those who like snow that is.

Jim

Yep. No snow whatsoever, and now we are in a Stage II fire warning because of no rain/moisture.....I would have loved some of your snow...and from where I moved, it snowed at least twice, really heavy, if not more.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that what they tell me is true....this past winter here was warmer than normal. Granted, it was GREAT. But I'd rather see that kind of weather in APRIL/MAY, not January......

Northern NM was looking pretty good, but is drying. The snow pack helps the rivers and hopefully, will prevent hiking restrictions in the mountains later this year.

This updated drought map shows SE NM as being in fairly bad shape.
