Default Chaparral area

I was curious about the Chaparral area. I was wondering if it is mostly farmlands, is there any housing developments in that area, if not now,
will their be anything in the near future? laplander

No it's not Farmland....it's mainly a trailer community about 10 minutes from El Paso's NorthEast areas. They have built some nice new schools there for the kids but ir's mainly for people working in El Paso and living very cheap for rent and/or property taxes as New Mexico is less expensive than El Paso property taxes.

Thanks 6 FOOT 3, i was just wondering about the area. My wife likes El Paso, i like the Las Cruces area, or even Alamogordo, but she want to stay close to her mom, living in El Paso, i was trying to work something out that would work for both of us. It looks like we have a ways to go till we can agree on a area to retire in, and were we can purchase a single family home, laplander

Hey Laplander.....i know a year or so ago they voted on incorporation for Chaparral which would had allowed a city council and mayor which would have set forth rules for infrustructure, housing, police/fire etc...but it would have raised property taxes for these things and so the vote failed so it's still unincorporated and runed by the county and sheriff for law enforcement so no new housing etc...

If you get out that way best to check it out yourself and see what you think....

Thanks again, we will be in N,E. El Paso this summer, so we are going to do our best to look around and try to go to different areas. It is often hard to get away, to do all the things you would like to do, time runs out quickly, to many parties, to many BBQ events to attend, a lot of weight gain, but it's all fun. laplander
