Smile Tatum, Lea County

I have some inherited property in Tatum-a couple of town blocks. Also, some mineral rights. Thinking about retiring there. Any one live close? Has anyone heard about any drilling going on in Lea County? Continental has paid a lease for exploration and drilling rights.

Default About Tatum

One of my aunts lives in Denver City not far from there. It isn't far from Lovington. I've been through there a few times. It seems small and quiet and probably shouldn't have much crime. It seemed everytime I went through there, it was a windy town but sunny, maybe just the times I went through. Be sure and have a supportable income in Tatum before moving there or you will have to commute to Lovington or Hobbs. Also I know from my aunt that they can have tornadoes out that way and pretty good size hail because the changes in weather patterns seem to happen a lot around the south Texas-NM border so just be aware of that.

My mother in law lives in Tatum and has for years. She loves it. But like the other person posted, make sure you have a good source of income, if you don't want to commute to work. But I've been there and it is a small town, everyone is real nice and they do things as a town. Also, they have a ton of people who are artist. So check it out before you decide. Good Luck!

I've been through it a bunch of times. It seems like a neat little town. A commute from there to anywhere else wouldn't be very practical; there isn't much around it.
