The sad thing about them complaining about the lack of border control from Texas and New Mexico is that since i was a child doing Geography in Ireland i knew NM was part of the US! My friends love that story. The best thing about my job is that i get to meet the strangest, and nicest people on a daily basis. I have alot of story's to tell, which im sure youll here over time.

We would love to hear some of them.....always good for a laugh!!

I often wonder if they even have geography in the public schools these days, given the level of ignorance surrounding same.

Can't help but have a thousand chuckles over border control and foreign country.

Yes, especially mail order folks need to get out their atlas

Thanks all for the morning laugh.

I drove thru Madrid last year when my dh and I were looking to move to a NM art town. It is mostly artists, and I thought it was really cool. Being an artist, I have always wanted to show and sell my work in my home, and you can't do that here in NJ.
And all the artists from NM say that the quality of the light is different there, and I think they're right. It's brighter and purer.
and yet, we are still deciding bet. NM, Fl and AZ.

Oasis is the oldest town in New Mexico. Its present location was established in 1938, but before that it was located next to the Rio Grande River now which is under Caballo Lake. It was established 800 A.D. as an Indian village, then became a Spanish village in 1640 and because there were springs there was called Oasis by the Americans in 1846. Oasis is located in Sierra County on the old highway and is still a small village.

I guess the problem is with the education system as a whole, many college students and some professional people cannot accurately name the capitols of the 50 States. It has to do with local ism too, some people in Massachusetts still don't acknowledge that there is Unites States West of the Mississippi. If we talk about world geography is even more catastrophic.
