Default Hi lukeache, re: Madrid and the Turquoise Trail

Hi lukeache!

I spent a month in the southwest last Aug and Sept buying and selling
turquoise and Native American jewelry, I stayed in Madrid for a few
days with a customer and found it interesting but not especially odd.

Maybe what you consider odd I would consider normal, or perhaps I'm
too odd myself to recognize it elsewhere.

At any rate Madrid is a town I would consider living in because of it's
proximity to Santa Fe but unfortunately I was unable to use my cell
phone while staying there, in addition the town rolls up the sidewalks
at 6; even the restaurants were closed much too early and as a result I
went without a dinner more than once, such is life!

If anyone were to travel to Madrid I would suggest checking ahead to see
what's open and when. For my part I will return to see what I missed and
to finally "do" the Turquoise trail.

I'm guessing that you are fond of turquoise, am I right?

Happy travels,

Mary

They promote Madrid as a artsy town and being an artist myself, I was seriously considering moving there. Of course, I wouldn't have moved if I had not seen the town with my own eyes and approved it. I'll be doing the Turquoise Trail in a couple of weeks and I'll make a point in stopping at Madrid and look around and see if I agree with what has been said.

My impression of Madrid? It's a fun place, and I can understand why artists might be intrigued with the thought of living there, but I am not an artist and I would choose to visit and not live there.

Been going there for years ..... back when it was truly a ghost town and then as it grew into the fun and funky place it is today.
