I just found this year-old article about the fact that Ted Turner has made his vast land holdings in New Mexico (3 ranches) available to the general public - for a price. By following the links accompanying the article, one can view a lot of photos of the various amenities, as well as great landscape shots.

I also had no idea that he had renovated one of the old spa facilities and restaurants in Truth or Consequences.

Turner is no longer the single largest land holder in the USA, as an older Forbes article points out. Mogul John Malone is also another large presence in New Mexico ranch ownership.

I remember that article (we subscribe to NMM). Seems he figured out ways to make the land profitable that does not involve raising cattle. Some hunters will pay $100 grand to shoot a rare mountain goat.

A couple years ago we spent a few days in T or C at the Charles Hot spring and Spa. Not fancy but very good for the price.
