Somebody please tell me about the Corrales area. Is this a safe and attractive place to live? Thanks Christine

We moved to Corrales from a small rural town in Oregon about a year ago.
We were a bit worried to be moving to a large city, the greater albuquerque area, but found it to be an excellent place to live. The only major problem we dealt with was barking dogs...but that could have been a very localized situation. Corrales, although home prices are high, is a cute town with a nice
Saturday farmers market and a vibrant arts community. It's also, hence the name, a very horse friendly community. I don't recall the statistics on crime but we felt very safe there. Some of my favorite things about the area are the bike/walking path down the rio grande river, lots of birds, rural feel yet close to amenities.
