Any word on the path of the Western Spirit Clean Line? We are planning to look at houses in the Placitas, Sandia Park vicinity next month and would like to get an idea of where it will be.
Everything I've seen suggests that they haven't picked out an alignment, or even a number of likely alternatives.
Point A isn't even all that detailed- Torrance & Guadalupe counties could have an awful lot of effect of where the line would need to go. Let's use Vaughn as our theoretical point A.
Point B, we know, is way out in the boonies west of Rio Rancho (~7 mi W of the Star Center).
I think it's more likely that they'll try to plumb the line along US 60 and then get it on the other side of I-25, heading straight north across the empty space, avoiding all the right-of-way headaches with the developed areas in Rio Rancho and Placitas, than use other alignments, but it's just one guess. No matter what, they're probably going to have to cross a rez; the question is if it'll be Isleta or Santa Ana.
We need this line and others like it if we're going to have an alternative to keeping those pollution-belching coal plants in NW NM in operation.
We are facing a very damaging Power line proposal in New Hampshire. I strongly suggest paying close attention to the proposal in your state.
Note - I am not opposed to all power lines but the "Northern Pass " is more of a eminent domain land grab in a very scenic part of our state when existing Right of Ways can be upgraded to carry the power.
Question - I was watching a show on the "nuclear alternative" last night and a map indicated two (proposed, active, planned?) new process nuclear power plants on the western end of Rt 60. Have any of your heard anything about this?
