Sure but be informed that you will need to make a certain kind of money and buy only in certain nicer areas in order to get the very most of what New Mexico has to offer. There are a lot of lower class and racial problems there that you need to be aware about up front.

Looking for some information about Roswell, NM. Is the crime rate as bad as it was two years ago? People seemed to talk a lot about it then; has it improved any?

There are a lot of threads on Roswell. Have you checked them out? If not try that and then come backwith a new thread on roswell, as not everyone reads all of them.

Hi DesertPeace, I like your positive atitude. My wife and I are looking to move to ElPaso or L.C., i loved ElPaso, and was stationed there for three yrs, a long time ago. I like the layout of L.C. a little better then E.P., but either one is good. I like walking and biking,
and by the way, will be retired when when we move in a yr or so. It seems L.C is better for a cyclist like me, more then E.P. I know you havn't lived long in L.C., but would like as much hands on insight as you can give me. I have mention in other replies, that my mother-inlaw lives in E.P. so my wife favors that area, but L.C. is so close that i wouldn't think it mattered that much. I like a smaller city also, but have many fond memories of E.P.

Default New Mexico is Great!

Hey, I read that you were getting negative comments about NM. I wanted to tell you that I love where I live in Jemez Springs, NM. Its a small mountain village about an hour NW of Albuq. Its stunningly beautiful here, I have lived here for about 14 years. Since you like Albq. Check this area out. Its situated so as you can get to Los Alamos, Rio Rancho/Albq. or Santa Fe and Taos pretty easily. There is no other place I have ever lived that I have like as much as here. (I have a natural Hot Springs business here in the village--another plus about this area--Hot Springs!) (Check out www.GigglingSprings.com) Also, if you need a Realtor to help you in this area, Tanya Struble of Gaining Ground Realty is the best one. Jemez Springs is close to Albq, but far enough away to be its own world. There is a LOT of National Recreation Area around here, so if you like outdoor stuff (hiking/fishing/etc) you'll like that here also. This is truly New Mexicos best kept secret (starting to get found out), but this is very much a place worth checking out if you are wanting to live in NM. I have been all over this state, and if I were moving here again, I would still choose Jemez Springs over the other places...and I love all of New Mexico. Hope this helps!

New Mexico is a wonderful place. But if you are raising a family, I would try to avoid some of the smaller towns. Like Espaniola or Las Vegas or Chama. If it is a smaller town, I would live in a smaller area closer to Albiqu.
Good luck and enjoy NM.

Also, I would give advice of not living higher than 7,500 or 8,000 feet. You'll miss the warmth. Why? I am from Texas and couldn't wait to get away from the heat. Now, I'm can't wait to see a little warmth. That's what living at 9,000 feet did to me. That's why I'm moving to a lower area around here.

If Fabian Socialism is your bag, you folks know who to vote for. A little taste would be to cash your next paycheck, take half of it, walk down the street and pass it out to those who sit and do NOTHING all day.
