Default Housing In Lovington

Hi! My husband is entertaining the thought of accepting a job in Hobbs, but in reading the forum we know we do not want to live in Hobbs. How is Lovington? Is there rental properties there? How are the schools? Are there any other cities in a 30 minute vacinity that would be better? Any information you will give me would be greatly appreciated. I cant find too much on these smaller towns.

I dont know too much about Lovington so I cant give you any info, but it seems like your typical Eastern New Mexico town, you might wanna try the chamber of commerce and they can send you a relocation packet.

Hi, Lovington has a great school system. There is also some great restants there. Rancho Grande and Lazy Six I would like to recommend them. Being that my husband is from there, I know a little, I moved there for about six years. It's a nice town to bring up your children. My family and I wish you great happness there. Cindy Green

I just moved to Lovington from Hobbs and I really would rather be in Hobbs to tell you the truth. I was born and raised in Hobbs and there's nothing to do in Hobbs but it's even worse in Lovington. I drive daily to Hobbs anyways so we probably should have stayed there. We moved to Lovington because my husband works at the hospital and it's easier for him to be on-call now that we're living in Lovington but other than that, I'd rather be in Hobbs. I know people have said bad things about Hobbs but do you really think that the people in Lovington would be much different being that Lovington is only 20 miles away and a large part of the population of Lovington work in Hobbs. One thing is that Kevin Naegle of Naegle appraisers has told me that home prices are cheaper in Lovington but it's really hard to find something that has been taken care of. We had to buy a home that was going through foreclosure and we spent 5 months making in liveable. Now we're working on the exterior. I would really think twice about it. Lovington really doesn't have anywhere that is pretty. All of the homes are really mixed. You'll have a block of nice ones and then the next block is totally junky homes. It seems like noone really planned out the town well. Plus, in my mind, just because you have a small home, it doesn't mean that you can't take care of it. I don't know why people here don't take pride in their homes. I'm really not trying to be negative, it's the honest truth.

I have lived in Lovington for roughly 7 years now and I can't complain. I think the decision would really be easier to make if you consider a few things. If you have children and are looking for a great school system, I would reccommend Lovington. The school system here is excellent! There isn't much for entertainment in Lovington, but there are a few great restaurants, a nice park, and soon to be a pool! (it's being built right now) This town isn't growing as fast as Hobbs therefore the main part of town is focused around it's older buildings, which to me give Lovington it's beauty.

My husband and I are currently house shopping here in Lovington and I gotta say my experience with it thus far has been enjoyable. I have seen several beautiful homes in nice neighborhoods. You just have to pick a time when there are a large amount of homes for sale so you have something to choose from. Yes, Lovington has it's fair share of "yucky" neighborhoods. I think the layout of Lovington makes it a little more obvious than the layout of Hobbs, but believe me, Hobbs has it's share of "yucky" neighborhoods too.

So, if you are looking for entertainment and easy access to Wal-Mart, you should choose Hobbs. If you are looking for a good school system and a friendly town, you should choose Lovington.

Hi, I just wandered onto this web site and as it happens have recently acquired the title to a house in Lovington where my parents resided. It is available for sale. It has not been well treated in the last few years by tenants and the price has been reduced to reflect that. If you are still in the market please e me. And by the way, I would much rather live in Lovington than Hobbs - it is a really friendly place to live and work, has a couple of lovely city parks, and I liked it when I lived there.

Well I just got back from Lovington. The county fair with about 80,000+ attendees is this week there for the Rodeo and fair. Seems like a little lively.

As an attendee of the Lea County Public School System - I can say I think it was a very good part of my education. I've been to over 50 schools nation-wide in the while attending K-12 and I've been to a number of colleges and universities as an adult. I was in advanced classes and thought well of my school days there. The teachers really cared and helped the kids as I recall.

Let's see. Lots of churches in Lovington - about 40+ of various denominations.

Only 1 bar and that is at the Lovington Inn on 82. It has a very lively crowd from Thursday night to Saturday night. A bit entertaining.

The whole town has a very serene and relaxing feeling. The locals are friendly and accomodating.

There is a museum in town and it is free to the public.

A movie theater with new shows and it only costs like $2.00. Kinda kewl and yes you can get a milkshake or banana split as well as a variety of snacks and drinks there too.

Chapparel Park is only a few blocks away and it is great for simple relaxation. A couple of smaller parks are in the town too.

Let's see...

The weather is to die for...

I spent 2 years in Lovington when I was growing up and I seem to recall some hot summers.

Nothing like where I live now, Orlando.

The weather is fresh and awesome even at 85+ degrees. It's still "cooler" than Orlando at 70 degrees. It's just fresher. Really.

It was fun waking to fresh mornings and going walking in the evenings in the freshness of the night air there.

In Orlando, one can barely breathe at noon in the sweltering heat. In Lovington, one can do whatever and still feel refreshed. Quite a difference.

I'm doing whatever I have to get back there...
