Granted, this is coming from an eastern New Mexican, but this year's windy season (30mph+) went from about March 5 to May 5.

High winds (those exceeding 30mph in gusts) can last into June, as evidenced by the devastation caused by the early June [vimeo]43913811[/vimeo]
Little Bear Fire in early June of 2012. There is a frightening time lapse video that demonstrates the force of the wind and its influence on the progress of the fire during its peak days. It burned for virtually all of June once started.

I think when speaking of windy days in recent times, it's a truism that "they're not over 'til they're over!"

The weather patterns that produce our spring winds are macro. Low pressure north and east of us produces high pressure, and wind, in the whole state. Localized differences due to physiographic differences are indeed part of the picture but wouldn't impact the duration of our windy season, just the severity of localized wind.
