Pintada Kid On New Mexico
The Center and Northern half of New Mexico have about the Same kind of temps in the Summer the mountains are a little Cooler. From the Center South and Eastern N.M. are the Temps will be 100 or over in the Day. My Suggestion to anyone coming to visit N.M. in July is to Rent a motel in Moriarty the center of N.M. and explore into Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The Motels are Cheaper in Moriarty and safer and they have some Great Mexican Food Places and dont forget the Burrito Lady in the Red Concession Trailer across from the Park in Moriarty. From the center of N.M. you can explore the Whole State in a Couple of weeks time. You cant miss the City of Natural Lakes about 80 miles east of Moriarty on I 40 they have the Biggest Swimming Pool in the World and Lakes Surround the Town everywhere and i Consider Santa Rosa N.M. one of the most Beautiful Little Cities in N.M. Santa Rosa N.M. has the Best Mexican Food Restaurants of anywhere in the State Very Friendly with Tourist. Check out Johnnys Comet Drive inn hes been the Cook and Owner of that Place ever since i can Remember and has some Great Mexican Dishes my favorite are the Red Beef Enchiladas with one egg over Medium and a Tortilla. Check out the Blue Hole and the Lake by the National Guard Armory and The Boating Lake North of Santa Rosa and the Boating lake south of Santa Rosa called Ft Sumner Lake dont forget to check out the Bar there and head further South and you have the Billy the Kid Museum and Billys Grave is just about 10 miles east of the Museum. Of Course Roswell has the UFO museum. Read the Independent and the East Mountain Telegraph to get information on the Area and the Small Towns and Friendly people everywhere but One Thing i would not Do is Exclude the Center of N.M. OHH dont forget to check out Clines Corners and Flying C between Moriarty and Santa Rosa on I 40 they have some interesting Stuff you wont see at Wal Mart. Feel Free to Write to my em if you need more information. pintada kid At webtv.net

TVI, my husband was down in NM, specifically the Alamogordo area, less than two weeks ago, and he didn't have any problems with the +100 degree days, because the humidity was lower. In fact, he did a hike in White Sands, for longer than he has walked in the past 10 years - and enjoyed it! (I did have to remind him - several times - to take water!)

Oh desert sun, Villanueva and the drive through that area is one of my very favorite places in New Mexico! We have never stopped in the town or visited the state park, but it is on our list. Wonderful place.

Villanueva Park
Yes Villanueva State Park is a nice place to Camp out they use to have showers there and a Playground years ago and a Bridge over the Rio Pecos where you can hike. They have a Wine Vinyard there remember that if your not from Villanueva your not from Villanueva and respect the Area and people or your in trouble and the Road South of Villanueva comes back out on I 40 close to Clines Corners which is a must see place with lots of Great Stuff to see they have great leather VESTS And Belts. The Flying C east of Clines Corners has some Great Stuff and the Dairy Queen has the Best Shrimp. pintada kid at webtv.net

Visit Truth or Consequences and Elephant Butte Lake
You've probably already been for future reference and other readers, Truth or Consequences has 10 bath houses that get the natural hot mineral water, Geronimo Springs Museum, Celestial Creations, which has over 4,000 items all created in New Mexico, and other art galleries and shops. Also available are horseback riding, rafting/kayaking down the Rio Grande River, and a few minutes away is Elephant Butte Lake, where you can rent jetskis or a houseboat or just go swimming. Plus lots of day trips to nearby ghost towns and more.
