There is a nice slow drizzle going on now......on my freshly-mowed lawn, with rain possible every day this week, according to WU.
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It looks like the monsoon season is upon us!!

So glad that the new and young and progressive City Council fired City Manager Pat McCourt as he was just aweful. Now with a new dynamic City Manager in the future maybe we'll start to get our streets paved and getting new parks in new subdivisions etc...
He was so bad the state of NM had to take over the Alamogordo Housing Authority which also issues permits for new construction as that's at a standstill right now as that department is just a mess. Glad the ''Old Guard'' city council is mostly gone.
Goodbye, McCourt - Alamogordo Daily News

Harry, if he was that bad, how in the world did he last TEN years..? Was it a matter of buddy-buddy scratch my back, etc. stuff?
I don't understand the thinking that is going on right now. The state (apparently) can do inspections faster and cheaper, yet some are upset that the city will turn it over to them and then ramp back up sometime in 2009 or so. Something just doesn't smell right!
I remember last summer when lack of inspectors/city codes vs state codes brought things to a standstill for awhile...and this is apparently nothing new.

Because of the ''Old Guard'' that's been in power for the last 15 years or so. They were no growth and improvements if it meant to keep property taxes low. Look at those streets from 1st st. over thru Indian Wells as they are still mostly broken up from when i left in 1990. Look at the flood issues as they known since 1985 to build the ditches and dikes and yet......
I was shocked that Ocotillo Drive was reciently paved the last time i was there. The developers were supposed to build new parks at the Golf Course area and across from the Mall as part of the city approval for developers to build there on the land and yet still no parks.
Again the ''Old Guard'' is gone and this new City Council and new Mayor Steve Brockett look like they mean buisiness which is good IMOP .

OIC.....SOS....politics. Figures.
We'll see whether or not they get things done for sure. Some of the streets really are in bad shape.
It's good to see things moving forward. I don't mind paying a little more to get good infrastructure, as it's good for the city as a whole.

Last I heard it was PNM, at least it was when I lived there from 95-02. Beats El Paso Electric, IMO.
