For you folks who follow the stock market, there's a bit of a hometown hero story associated with today's IPO of Intrepid Potash. They own mines in Carlsbad and Moab, UT. The IPO was the first one since VISA went public earlier this year, and it was a home run, to say the least. The company sold $1.5 Billion in stock. The wonderful part is that one of the founders and principals is none other than Hugh E. Harvey, Jr. He grew up in Farmington. His late father lived in Los Alamos several years prior to his passing around 2001, and Hugh's sister Katherine Burr has a company based in Albuquerque. Kudos to a well-deserved pay day after literally years and years of work.
