Post Is Hobbs an ok place to live in?

I really would like to know if anyone could tell me what part of Hobbs is the best to live in? Or is there another town close by that would be better? Thanks for any info.

Post Hobbs

Hobbs is okay, I guess. oil patch. Anyways, you might try Lovington, it's a nice little small town and is the county seat in Lea County where Hobbs is. Lovington is the hometown of Brian Urlacher--Chicago Bears.

Artesia and Carlsbad are really nice too. If you want to work in Hobbs but live in Texas you can do that too. I personally do not like TX but Andrews is real close to Hobbs about 10 miles or so.

Default Beware of Price Gouging

I have been living in Hobbs for several years. Within the last year I have seen the price of normal rent go from $400 to $600 to $750 and rising. My terms of lease in 18 months went from one year to six months to month to month currently. The reason for this is the pending construction of plant buildings in the nearby vacinity. The locals cannot afford to continue to pay for the dramatic increases that have been predominant in Hobbs. Eventually they are weeded out and thrown into the streets to make room for the temporary construction workers that are forced to pay these ridiculous escalating rent prices. After this construction is over, I do think that these landlords realize that they will be faced with dealing with the locals that made them. Now they are consumed with greed and want what they can get no matter what.

I have lived in Hobbs my whole life. If you don't mind living in a smaller town. It is true that rent is going way up. The town is growing fast. Now I read the comment earlier about towns that are close. I need to corect the person who wrote that comment. Andrews is a lot further then just 10 miles away. Andrews is about an hour or more away from Hobbs. Here is a list of towns that are 30 miles or less: Lovington, NM; Eunice, NM; Denver City, TX; and Seminole, TX. They are all smaller then Hobbs. You would most likely get a better deal on houseing.
