heres some info about whats going on in this booming town of 50,000. millenium transit will be adding 250 high paying manufacturing jobs, they recently recieved a contract to build a high number of buses for new jersey transit.. dean baldwin aircraft painting adding good paying jobs, beyond earth enterprises recently moved there rocket building headquarters to roswell, 40 new jobs, mcquire research moved in bringing 300 jobs in the next 3 years. The roswell international air center is now a foreign trade zone, has i believe the second longest runways in the us..not to mention all the new businesses that have come in the past few years, sams club, hobby lobby, dunlaps, petco, home depot, ihop, chilis, farleys, ribcrib, big 5, tuesday moring, hancock fabricks, dollar tree, famous footwear, rackroom shoes, hampton inn, fairfield inn, la quinta inn and another hotel in the planning stages and a brand new 26 bed full service hospital under construction which should be opening early this year. Blakes lotaburger, michaels, bed bath and beyond, ross, best buy and circuit city are all negotiating... Lots of new houses, apartments, medical and professional office buildings being built. the city recently had the lowest unemployment rate since walker airforce base closed in the late 60's.. the city is definitely trying to clean up,, everyone knows roswell has lots of crime...hopefully that will change in the future..
it looks like the future is bright for roswell ,, there is still much more going on, local businesses expanding and adding second and third locations eastern new mexico college expanding, new construction everywhere etc etc..
Hey lets not forget the TV show filmed about the city.. even though it was filmed in Cali, and not roswell.. it carried the cities name.

I too would have thought that Carlsbad would have been a better choice than Roswell for an amusement park, given its closer to El Paso and the caverns, but the politicians in this place are the worst - total corruption at its best with local business/politicians controlling who can come into the city. It's sad because Carlsbad is a fairly nice place, except that there is no shopping or any substantial business' here or anything else for that matter.

Surprisingly, Roswell is booming and its quite obvious if you visit the city. There are numerous new business' and lots of growth in the city. A new theme park does not seem so far fetched, although its size may be limited. Everyone from Carlsbad or Artesia goes to Roswell to do any "real" shopping unless your a devoted Walmart shopper! People here in Carlsbad would just love the type of growth seen in Roswell, minus the crime of course. So hats off to Roswell for trying to make their city a better place to live - hey, maybe they'll finally catch on here in Carlsbad....but first they better learn to build some roads

Default jet service coming to southeastern new mexico!!

another positive factor that will help bring that theme park to roswell... it looks like roswell will be getting jet service possibly as soon as sept.. city officials are expecting for either american airlines, continental or usairways to make an offer....if this happens, the only places in new mexico to catch an airplane besides the small expensive ones like mesa will be albuquerque and roswell..... southeastern new mexico is the second most populated area in the state.......this article came out today in the roswell daily record....

Hate to burst your bubble, but the talks about getting a major airline into Roswell have been ongoing for years. This is not new news. Nothing has happened but things can always progress I guess. It makes sense in theory since there are full size runways there at the training school along with the only heated runway in the country. But so far nothing has really happened except these so called talks.

Default 2nd Most Populated

For what it's worth, it seems to me that South Central NM and Northwest NM are both more populous than Southeast NM. The population of Dona Ana County is greater than Chaves, Lea, Eddy, and Roosevelt combined. Throw Otero county into SC NM and Curry county into SE, and SC is still more populous. In NW NM, San Juan, McKinley, and Rio Arriba counties are at least as populous as SE NM. SC and NW areas are both growing at a faster rate than SE as well.
I am not saying that an amusement park won't work, just questioning your assertion.

yes, i know im a native of the area and have always kept up on whats going on ..... this is the first time they are marketing as a region including roswell, artesia, carlsbad and ruidoso...this is the farthest any attempt has gotton..i believe the comittee met with the airline carriers this month to discuss the results of the flyroswell.com poll..

also there have been a few proposed theme parks in the last ten years...this is the farthest any has gone, with the governors support, and the fact that private investors are behind it..it may just happen!! there are rumors going around that a celebrity is behind it...!! so lets just wait and see what happens, all you roswell haters..!!
