Hello
I am thinking of moving to NM, have been there, love it, just sold my home. I am a male nurse- RN, experienced in Hospice nursing and would like to stay in Hospice.
Questions:
1. What are the nursing jobs like in general in NM?
In demand? No demand? Luke warm? Don't bother looking?
2. Any one know how Hospice nursing jobs are in NM?
3. Any parts of the state more employable than others for nursing jobs?
4. Places to AVOID working at?
5. I am leaning toward the Albuquerque area to live in, would rent at first then eventually buy a place. What's up with all the warnings about crime in Albuquerque I keep hearing about?
6. I would like to live out in more of a country setting, what would 125k buy , housing wise?
I would think there is a reasonable demand for hospice services here. There is a large elderly population with financial means. There is not a lot going on in LA but we do have beautiful scenery and amazing hiking/biking/skiing.
$125K will not get you a lot but you could buy a comfy barracks style house for that. Barracks style - built by the army, plain but functional.
I think there are a fair number of nursing jobs in NM. Of the big three cities (Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Las Cruces) I had the most luck with Santa Fe and Las Cruces in landing interviews. The only place I know to avoid in my limited time here is Sagecrest in Las Cruces - apparently they are getting sued by the state. There are a few others in the suit in the article.
