Thumbs up Clovis....HERE I COME!!!!

Hi All....

Been lurking here awhile and just decided to register. I am retiring from the Navy this October and will be moving from San Diego to Clovis. I have been there a few times as my SO is there. I grew up in a small town (about 1/3 the size of Clovis) in Oklahoma and have been stationed all over the US for the last 20+ years.
I am looking forward to the simplier life rather than the hustle and bustle of Navy life. I spent 8 months in Afghanistan last year, so I am ready to relax with a Margarita and Green Chile!

Hope all is well...

Erik

Erik, bless your heart, we're so glad that you are safe and sound.

The weather here is just about perfect right now, warm days and cool nights that are great for sleeping. I know that San Diego is supposed the have "the perfect climate" but I'm pretty happy with a place where I haven't had to use any heat since the end of February and no a/c at all so far this year--especially since we came from New England and were spending hundreds of dollars on oil heat and expensive electricity.

You won't believe how stress-free your life will be in Clovis! Welcome home and welcome to Clovis when you get here.

Good on you. Clovis might suit you from the sound of things. I am personally a veteran against the war, but I also thank you for serving our country. *SALUTE*

When I wrote that it was a bit cooler. Believe me, we've got the A/C cranked up now!

Hey Shipmate,

Do you also frequent the Goat Locker BBS? I take it from your screen name that you are/were a Storekeeper, so was I before being on the initial MA selection in 1973 and retired in 1984, just a tad bit before you.

I/we are planning on moving from Angeles City, Philippines in 2012, after out kids graduate from Angeles University (hopefully). That would then make us ABQ Transplants. My big concern is my asthma and how the pollen and even the altitude will affect it. I do like the fact of having Kirtland AFB very close and hope that TRICARE in the ABQ is alive and well at that time.

Feel free to send me a direct email, always happy to communicate with a SHIPMATE.

Thanks for your SERVICE and we are glad you are back from the Sand Box.

jOE

Back at ya Erik, thought that would be an SK's screen name. Wish you and your fiancé a happy and bright future. Enjoy Clovis and if we can manage to stay in touch till 2012, come on down or I will go up and have a face to face get together. Also, keep me posted on what is happening with the base and TRICARE.

Your shipmate in the PI,

jOE
