Hi Terri,
There are a couple of small lakes by the golf course (man made lakes) and they stock them with fish. No hiking trails in Timberon but a lot of places to walk and hike in the woods and the roads but there are a lot of hiking trails between here and Cloudcroft.
Where do you live now? Hope your house sells soon.
I do drum and would love to find people to drum with or use another percussion instrument. Great spiritual experiences especially drumming and being close to nature.
The people on this forum are also very helpful in answering questions and the ones I've met in person are very nice people.

I don't know of any surveyers but the one Robert's Realty gave you would be your best bet.
They are full of information.
Chilegal might know of someone and will probably chime in later if she does.

Hi:
our Realtor - out of CloudCroft gave us a guy that I think charged about $450 to do our lot. If you are still looking - I'll see if I can find is name again.

GPS or surveyers are your best bet. But one note there should be metal stakes in the ground on each corner of the lot. You may need a metal detector to find them.

i was wondering if anyone knew how to read the degrees north and south and stuff on the plot maps??
Type them into Google maps (maps.google.com) or Google Earth (free, but big download). Or use a GPS program. I got pretty close this way, was able to find some half-buried markers that were supposed gone.
Even the cheapest GPS will let you find co-ordinates, no need to buy the best one.
The advantage to using Google Earth is that you can pan around and look at the property from different angles. I printed a view from about 250 feet up to give to the witcher when I was looking at a property, and he got some pretty good ideas from that on where to start looking.
I need to get off my shorts and leave Tucson, where the wages are low and the rents high. Then I'll stop worrying and have more time to post.
Still have some things to figure out and then I'm packing.
